Welcome to the Singapore National Olympic Council website. Singapore is immensely proud of its long history with the International Olympic movement. We have been sending our athletes to compete at the Olympic Games even before our country achieved independence in 1965. Sports has helped build the spirit of our nation, and the International Olympic movement has shaped our philosophy and our choices.

The Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) is the national nonprofit organization that coordinates the selection of Singaporean athletes for competition at the major games such as the Olympics, the Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games and the South East Asian Games. Singapore's involvement in the Games is resolutely anchored in the Olympic ideals that were first espoused by Baron Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympic Games, in 1894.

Through sports, we aim to promote peace, friendship and understanding in the world. Through sports, we hope to prevent conflict and resolve differences. Through sports, we seek to build a strong nation that promotes cultural tolerance and fair play in all aspects of human endeavour.

On this site, you can learn more about Singapore's athletes, our results, policies, programs and plans for the future—how we are living the Olympic dream.

"The most important thing in the Olympic Games is not to win but to take part, just as the most important thing in life is not the triumph but the struggle. The essential thing is not to have conquered but to have fought well."
- Pierre de Coubertin
