National Shooting Women's 10m Air Rifle Team
- Adrienne Ser
- Jasmine Ser
- Vanessa Yong
Adrienne Ser, Jasmine Ser and Vanessa Yong went to the Asian Games in Doha and pulled off an incredible upset when they won the silver medal in the 10-metre air rifle. In recognition of their accomplishment, the young teammates are the recipients of the 2007 Junior Sports Team (Event).
All three teenagers got their start in the sport through the talent identification programme at Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School’s shooting club. They are excellent examples of the great quality of young shooters being developed at Ahmad Ibrahim. Jasmine, the youngest at 16, has shot a near-perfect score of 399. Her elder sister Adrienne, 19 years old, has a personal best of 396 while 18 year old Vanessa has shot 397.
Despite their high scores, the girls traveled to Doha with modest expectations. “It was so exciting that I was going with my sister and Vanessa to my first major Games,” said Adrienne. “We were only thinking about setting goals for our performance and staying focused.”
The girls shot a combined score of 1,183 to take the silver medal, ahead of Japan and India. Committed and passionate about their sport, Adrienne, Jasmine and Vanessa are another sign that Singapore’s young generation of athletes is headed for the stars.
