February 26, 2007--Singapore will host the next board meeting of the South East Asia Regional Anti-Doping Organization (RADO) on March 27-28 2007. RADO also has called for the Asian National Olympic Committees (NOCs) to nominate candidates for training as doping control officers, to be held concurrently with the board meeting.
While in Singapore, RADO plans to train and certify nominees in anti-doping testing and collection. RADO has asked the NOCs to preferably nominate one male and one female to take part in the training course. Local athletes will serve as test subjects although their samples will not be sent for testing.
Three representatives from Australia’s Anti-Doping Authority are expected to attend the RADO meeting along with Rob Koehler, deputy director, DPOCD, the World Anti-Doping Agency; Kazu Hayashi, director of the WADA Asia/Oceania Regional Office, Elizabeth Hunter, WADA’s director of communications and Mahmoud Khalifa, a manager in the Doping Control of the Olympic Council of Asia.
