Sixteen year old Deborah Ong began sailing only five years ago. She quickly progressed through both the Optimist and 420 class and was identified as having the ideal physical attributes of an Olympic 470 crew.

In 2006 she took a giant step forward when she began partnering SEA Games Gold Medalist Dawn Liu in the 470 classes. Although still capable of competing on the world youth level, Deborah was determined to at the highest level in the 470 class.

Currently at student at Methodist Girls’ School, Deborah has committed herself to the Olympic path for 2012.
