Koh Seng Leong

At 23 years old, Koh Seng Leong has been a sailor for more than half his life. He excelled in the Optimist Class before moving on to other classes with equal success. Seng Leong was the youngest sailor selected for the 2000 Olympics, and he performed credibly in International 470 Class.

He is a tenacious individual who has proven his determination in both sports and life. He was forced to withdraw from the 2005 SEA Games after a traffic accident put him in the hospital just eight weeks before the Games were to begin.

However, the test of true commitment comes when things are at their most difficult, and Seng Leong has passed this test with flying colours. In June 2006, Seng Leong placed 5th in a field of 35 at the Asia Pacific Lase Championships. A month later, he sailed into 12th place among 71 competitors at the Laser Radio World Championships. In December 2006, he won a silver medal at the Asian Games in Doha.

Seng Leong has committed himself to the Olympics in 2008 and potentially 2012 in the Laser Class.
